Why does it worth it for Budapest to organise the
Budapest EPRIX Race?
In his statement in 2019, Jean Todt, President of the International Automobile
Federation (FIA), explained that he would like to see Formula E races in Hungary,
among other things.
One aspect is to create a route for the Formula-E field suitable for exciting, spectacular
and interesting races, and the other important factor is to convey the sights, beauty
and past of Budapest to Formula-E viewers through television broadcasts.
These are the principles that will have to be taken into account if we can run a FormulaE race in the capital.
Due to the geographical location of the country, the FIA president classifies Hungary
as Eastern Europe, so he especially likes the idea that the Formula E field will also
come here to compete, and he is assured that he supports these initiatives.
Among other things, this would be the basis for the Battery Base Foundation to
organize a Formula-E race, with which Budapest would be “placed on the
Formula-E map” and become the center of future battery innovations.
Highlighted sporting events play a decisive role not only in the economies of the host
cities, but even in the economy of the entire country. These events are often the driving
forces of local economic development, contributing to the growth of trade and the
expansion of services.
